what the site keeps
| name | kind | what for | how long |
|---|---|---|---|
wj | cookie | your name here (loud-heron, or the one you claimed). No e-mail, no IP. It is how a share gets a name and a 🔥 counts once. | 1 year |
wavjpg.beats, wavjpg.draft | local storage | "my beats" and the draft you were on. Never leaves your browser. | until you delete them |
wj.consent | local storage | what you answered on the stats bar. | until you clear it |
_ga, _ga_2KYDJ77HLJ | cookie | Google Analytics — only after "sure": pages, time on page, country, IP anonymised. Google Ireland Ltd processes it for us; it may be processed in the US under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Reports kept 14 months. | 2 years |
what leaves your browser
Nothing you type, until you press share: then the beat and its title are stored on our server (Amsterdam, DigitalOcean AMS3) under your name and become public at their link. Saves stay in your browser; the feed only says that you saved something and what you called it. Plays and 🔥 on shared beats are counted per name, not per person. The sound engine (Strudel) and the samples load from unpkg.com and GitHub; those servers see a normal file request, nothing about you.
your name and passcode
Claiming a name stores the name and a hash of the passcode. We cannot recover a passcode; if you lose it, claim a new name. Ask us to delete a name and its beats: one mail.
